All Messiah employees are invited to a farewell reception for Debra Sauders, director of print/web communications and assistant director of marketing, on Thursday, March 21, from 2-3:30 p.m. in the Climenhaga Homestead. Deb is leaving Messiah to take a position as the director of advancement communications at Franklin and Marshall College, an institution much closer to her home and family.

Department of visual arts senior show reception set for March 23
On Saturday, March 23 at 7 p.m. the Climenhaga Building will be ablaze with the extraordinary artwork of our senior students. The celebration will be accompanied by lively jazz, snacks and special performances by the theatre department. This annual reception has become one of the biggest social events on campus – and it is free and open to the public.
Far too big to be accommodated by the Aughinbaugh Gallery, the senior students of the department of visual arts will occupy the entire building to present an exhibition of their multi-disciplinary artwork representing the culmination of four years of studies at Messiah College. Please mark it on your calendar and be sure to be there. The artwork will be on view March 22 through April 14.
David Weaver-Zercher to discuss “Amish Behaving Badly? Amish Realities and Amish Reality Shows”
With beard-cutting incidents in Ohio, a so-called Amish Mafia and Amish teens “breaking Amish,” it may appear that Amish culture is falling apart. In this presentation, David Weaver-Zercher, who served as a consultant to federal prosecutors at the beard-cutting trials, will sort out Amish reality from misunderstandings inspired by reality television and other media outlets. If you’re interested in the beard-cutting incidents—who did what to whom, and why did they do it—or wonder about the reality of the Amish Mafia, join us for this lecture on Tuesday, March 26, 4-5:15 p.m. in Boyer 131. Sponsored by the Sider Institute for Anabaptist, Pietist and Wesleyan Studies.

Information for upcoming wellness personal profile campaign
Just a reminder that employees who accumulate 100 wellness points before June 15 will experience health insurance premium savings for the following year. Completing the online Capital BlueCross Health Assessment known as the “Better Health Works Personal Profile” is required for employees seeking 100 wellness points, even if you completed one last year. To encourage and assist employees in completing the profile, the wellness team will be running a four-week health assessment campaign beginning March 25. At this point in time, 145 employees have completed the profile for the 2012-13 academic year; our goal is to have 300 completed profiles by the end of the four-week campaign (April 19). Watch for details to follow!
