NEWS:

We are pleased to welcome Lyndsay Grimm as Messiah’s next director of residence life. Lyndsay has served in Christian Higher Education for the past 10 years, serving in Residence Life at Geneva College (PA) and Westmont College (CA) and most recently as the director of residence life at Grove City College (PA). In 2016, Lyndsay received the Ruth Bamford award by the Association for Christians in Student Development for professionals who have made outstanding contributions to ASCD and the field of Student Development. Lyndsay’s first day is Mon., July 31. Please join us in welcoming her to the Messiah College community.

MESSIAH 411:

Plan to attend Community Day on Aug. 22

All employees are encouraged to attend Community Day on Tues., Aug. 22 from 9 – 10:30 a.m. in the Calvin and Janet High Center for Worship and Performing Arts. This annual Messiah tradition serves as the ceremonial launch of the new academic year for employees with opportunities for corporate worship and fellowship, as well as the presentation of the president’s State of the College address. Refreshments will be available after the gathering from 10:30-11:30 a.m. on the Eisenhower Campus Center lawn (rain location is Howe Atrium, Boyer Hall). All offices and departments (with the exception of Dispatch and the Early Learning Center) will close from 8:45-11:30 a.m. to allow employees to attend the gathering and reception. Employee summer film

The Office of Human Resources and Compliance will be showing the movie Hidden Figures on Tues., July 25 as part of our See Diversity Anew initiative. Show times are at 10 a.m., 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. with refreshments provided. No tickets are necessary; please plan on attending the movie during your normal working hours.

Extended library hours

This coming week, due to the number graduate courses being held on campus, Murray Library will be extending its hours. Reference librarians will also be available in the library each evening to help with students’ library needs. Murray Library will be open the following hours:

• Mon.-Thurs., July 24-27: 8 a.m.-8 p.m.
• Fri., July 28: 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Girls Who Code, a national organization that teaches computer programming to girls, is looking for donations of android phones for two clubs in Harrisburg. Opportunities to host international students

West Shore Christian Academy (WSCA) in Shiremanstown has about 20 international students who are journeying with us this academic year (2017-2018). Our students come from different parts of the world and we are in need of families to host these students. Host families receive a monthly stipend to assist with a student’s living expenses. This is the perfect opportunity to demonstrate the love of Christ. Will you prayerfully consider hosting one or two of the following students this year?
