Please welcome Carmen (Rocky) Allinger, Messiah’s new instructional designer in Learning Technology Services (LTS). Rocky’s education and experience will serve her well in her new role. She has a bachelor’s in English and secondary education from Shippensburg University, and a master’s in education/Instructional Technology, from St. Joseph’s University. She comes to Messiah College from HACC where she served as the coordinator, Center for Instructional Design. Rocky is energetic and excited to serve the Messiah Community. You will find Rocky on Hoffman’s first floor directly across the hall from the Innovation Zone. Feel free to stop in and say hi.

Engle Center counselor, Marcelle Giovannetti, and international student, Gloria Igihozo, were chosen as panelists for the 2017 PASSHE Women’s Consortium conference at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. The theme for this year’s conference is: “We Are Stronger Together- Intersectionality in a Diverse World.” Marcelle and Gloria will share their personal experiences centered on their panel topic – Stories Untold: Intersectionality woven into personal narrative among immigrant, refugee and international students. Please welcome Lisa Brubaker as our clinical liaison placement coordinator in the Department of Nursing. Lisa will replace Nancy Frank, who is transitioning to assistant professor of nursing, clinical track. Lisa has a bachelor’s in behavioral science from Widener University and has experience as a substitute teacher in several area school districts. Lisa was the administrative assistant for the Messiah College Doctor of Physical Therapy Program at Winding Hill. She and her husband live in Mechanicsburg with their five children. Additionally, Kristen Slabaugh, DNP, CRNP has recently transitioned from an undergraduate teaching role to a primary appointment in the School of Graduate Studies as the coordinator of the DNP program. Kristen is a Messiah College alum (BSN) and earned the MSN from Penn State University and the DNP from the University of South Alabama. Her areas of expertise and interest include women’s health, pediatrics and family practice.

Messiah College is excited to welcome our incoming first-year and transfer students as they begin their orientation tomorrow, Aug. 25. Make plans to attend the Movie on the Green Human Resources is once again partnering with Student Involvement and Leadership programs to host an outdoor movie event. Disney’s Moana will be showing on a 40′ tall screen on Fri., Sept. 22 on the Eisenhower Lawn at 7:30 p.m. Coinciding with Family Weekend, this event is open to all employees and their families as well as students and their families.
