Oregon extension faculty to visit campus
Oregon Extension faculty member Heidi Gehman will be on campus Mon., Oct. 23 and Tues., Oct. 24 to talk to students about opportunities for students to study at the Oregon Extension.
Each fall, the Oregon Extension welcomes 20-25 students to a rustic setting in the Cascade Mountains, where serious students can ask their deepest questions, read gripping and challenging books, wrestle with profound ideas in writing, and converse honestly and animatedly with fellow students and six faculty. With three or four cabin-mates, students buy and cook their own meals. Backpacking, a trip to San Francisco and the Oregon coast, rafting, biking and Bible study opportunities complete the autumn adventure.

This play examines the life, during World War II and afterwards, of a kindertransport child. Though fictitious, it is based upon many real kindertransport stories.

Call for nominations: Women of Influence
We are seeking nominations from the Messiah College community of female students in their junior or senior year to be a part of the newly created “Women of Influence Mentoring Program.” We are seeking 10-15 female students to participate.
Objectives of Proposed Women of Influence Mentoring Program
1. To connect female students (preference for first generation students) with women (alumni/parents/friends of Messiah) to participate in an informal networking and mentoring program.
2. To support female students in their academic, vocational, spiritual and social growth.
3. To grow scholarship aid and endowment for women students.
Student Commitments
• To attend two events annually on Messiah’s campus sponsored by Women of Influence Mentoring Program
• To respond in a timely fashion to interactions from mentor
• To pray regularly for your mentor
Please send nominations to Diana Cashman at dcashman@messiah.edu with a brief description of why you feel the nominated student would be a good candidate for this program. The top list of nominees will be interviewed by members of the Steering Committee.

Grandparents Day 2017
Next week, Thursday, Oct. 5 will mark our 9th annual Grandparents Day! The purpose of this wonderful event is to allow the grandparent(s) and/or elderly mentors of current students the opportunity to experience firsthand what it is like to attend Messiah College and to become familiar with our campus and all it has to offer. (Classes are NOT canceled that day and students are expected to follow their normal schedule.) Please be sure to warmly welcome our grandparents when you see them on campus. Legal counsel to speak
On Wednesday, Oct. 4 the Compliance Committee will be hosting Kevin Gold, the College’s legal counsel.
