Much Ado About Nothing is one of Shakespeare’s wittiest romantic comedies. The story contrasts two pairs of lovers in a clever and suspenseful “battle of the sexes” in an imaginative comedy about the chaos created in the pursuit of love. The bantering lovers, Benedick and Beatrice, are dead-locked in a lively war of words while their friends try to trick the bickering pair into admitting they’re in love. Their young sidekicks, Hero and Claudio, start a romance of their own that is threatened by a dastardly plot to separate them. Near-fatal complications ensue, but with the help of the hilarious Constable Dogberry and his bumbling police force, the lovers are ultimately united.

“Mocktails” will be held Nov. 16
The Office of Alumni and Parent Relations, in collaboration with the Career and Professional Development Center, announces our annual evening of professional development for students. “Mocktails” as this event is now known, features networking education for students, followed by a networking reception with local alumni and employers. This reception gives students a safe space to directly apply and practice their networking skills with alumni, employers, and friends of the college.
Mocktails will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 16, from 6 – 8 p.m. in the Admissions and Welcome Center.
Please note that we will be following several Covid protocols for Mocktails. Out of an abundance of precaution, we are asking that all attendees wear masks at this event. Food and drink will be provided at locations separate from the main networking area so that all interpersonal interactions can occur while participants are masked.

School of Graduate Studies – Holiday Giving Project
During the month of November, the School of Graduate Studies is collecting pantry items to fill 160 tote bags to distribute to all of our on-campus graduate students. The tote bags will be filled during the afternoon of Wednesday, Dec. 1 in Winding Hill. These bags will be distributed to Messiah’s Graduate Assistants and students enrolled in the Dietetic Internship, Master of Occupational Therapy, and Doctor of Physical Therapy programs. NEEDED – Men for Spring Opera Production.
Have you ever wanted to sing in an opera? Well, here’s your chance!…
NEEDED – men (tenors and basses) to sing in the ensemble of the Spring Opera Production!
Through the Dept. of Theatre and Dance, the spring MainStage production will be
THE YEOMAN OF THE GUARD by Gilbert and Sullivan.
WHAT: tenors and basses, of any age, with some vocal ability and music reading ability. NO PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE or OPERA SAVVY NEEDED! Just the willingness to sing, learn and have fun!
WHEN: Ensemble rehearsals will be on Monday evenings, starting Feb. 21 through March 25.
March 28 – April 6 will be work-throughs/run-throughs/tech and dress rehearsals. Performances will be April 7, 8, 9, and 10. That’s basically it!
WHERE: rehearsals will be in the Climenhaga building (Miller Theater) and performances will also be in Miller Theater.
WHY: Because it will be fun – performing in a theatrical production with orchestra and full sets and costumes! And if you’ve never sung in an opera before, this is your chance!
