Messiah’s financial planning concentration and certificate receives CFP® Board Registration

The Department of Business is pleased to announce that the recently launched Financial Planning concentration and certificate has been approved by the CFP® Board. Students will be able to take the CFP® Exam upon successful completion of the degree requirements on their way towards becoming a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™. As a result, both concentrations within the Finance major have received the highest level of accreditation in their respective fields of finance. The Financial Planning concentration is now a CFP® Board Registered Program and the Financial Analysis concentration has been a CFA Affiliated Program since 2018. Messiah University is one of only five universities in Pennsylvania and one of three CCCU institutions to be accredited by both the CFP® Board and the CFA Institute.

Please consider supporting Harrisburg United Way. If you need assistance with the electronic giving site please contact Gina Hale at ghale@messiah.edu.

Messiah University vehicle reservation reminders

All drivers must be on the Approved Driver List (FalconLink). This list is updated weekly. Please be sure to check the list prior to selecting drivers.

Contact Debbie Farver at dfarver@messiah.edu if you need instructions to become an approved driver.

Vehicle reservations should be made at least 24-hours in advance, so that they can be approved and prepared. Requests with less than 24-hours advanced notice cannot be reserved through EMS, and need to be completed by contacting Debbie Farver at dfarver@messiah.edu (office hours: 9:00-2:30, Monday-Friday).

When requesting a Messiah University vehicle, the following information must be provided to complete the reservation:

  • Type of vehicle(s) needed (car, mini-van or 15-passenger van)
  • Pick-up date and time
  • Return date and time
  • Destination
  • Driver’s name
  • Billing account name/number

For overnight/multiple day vehicle reservations, please contact Debbie Farver, and she will assist you in making the reservation.

Please be sure to cancel reservations as soon as you know they are not needed, so that the vehicle(s) can be made available for someone else who might need a reservation. Vehicle requests are often in high demand. If you do not cancel the reservation, you may be charged a $25 fee.

Please fill the vehicle with gas if the gas gauge is at ¾ tank or less, and be sure to get a receipt to include with the vehicle invoice when returning the vehicle. If the vehicle is not refueled prior to returning to campus, your department may be charged a refueling service fee of $25 per vehicle.

You are responsible for removing ALL trash, food, athletic equipment and personal belongings from the vehicle at the end of your reservation. The vehicle should be left in good condition for the next group to use, as we do not have an employee tasked with cleaning out vehicles between reservations.

When using a Messiah vehicle, please complete the highlighted lines on the green vehicle invoice card (included in the key bag given to you when you pick-up the vehicle). The following information must be provided on the card:

  • Driver’s signature on front of card and printed name on back of card
  • Beginning mileage
  • Ending mileage
  • Each vehicle is equipped with an EZ-PASS transponder for toll roads. Please note that the transponder is in the vehicle (yes/no).
  • Indicate any notable damage to the exterior or interior of the vehicle

New seed library at Murray Library. We need YOU!

What’s a seed library?

A seed library is a circulating collection of seeds that people can borrow, plant, harvest, save, and—if all goes according to plan—return to the library for others to borrow. A seed library offers opportunities for anyone to try their hand in gardening. In Spring 2023, the Murray Library seed library will freely share seeds with any interested gardeners. This will be open to the community. Look for more details in 2023!

How can you help? Please donate your seeds!

  • As you harvest your fall plants, save some of the seeds for yourself and bring some to the library.
  • Return the seeds in separate baggies or envelopes by their variety to the Library’s circulation desk. Seeds must be dry and free of most residue.
  • The seed library accepts seeds for: vegetables, herbs, flowers
  • Commercially distributed, opened or unopened seed packets are also accepted.

Thanks to the Office of Sustainability for their support!
