2022-2023 Library Student Research Grant

The 2022-2023 Library Student Research Grant application deadline is Thursday, April 6. This competitive grant provides Messiah seniors doing their senior honors projects or senior capstone projects an opportunity to experience a taste of graduate school-level research using both Murray Library’s print and digital collections as well as other relevant research materials for their chosen topic located at other institutions or organizations. Proposals are selected for funding by an interdisciplinary panel of judges chaired by Linda Poston, library director. The grantee will be awarded $1,000 in the spring for the fall 2023 academic year. Grant recipient research will culminate with a presentation of the overview and process of their research project at the Friends Annual Dinner or alternative venue as appropriate. Award recipients will be announced Monday, April 24. See the Friends webpage for more information and attached PDF for application details.

Facility services promotions and changes

The operations division is pleased to announce the following promotions and changes in the department of facility services:

Brad Markley continues to serve as the director of facility services and will continue to provide overall leadership to the facilities, grounds, campus events and campus laundry services.
• Brian Miller has been named assistant director of physical plant. He will continue to provide oversight to the trades areas in the department and responsible for the building systems.
Mark Graybill has been named assistant director of buildings and grounds. He will continue to provide strategic oversight to grounds department and will now also oversee the campus events and laundry services departments.
Art Palese has been promoted to grounds manager and will provide oversight to the day-to-day operations of grounds.
Laura Price has been promoted to campus events manager and will provide oversight to the day-to-day operations of all three shifts of campus events.
Renee Feather has been promoted to first shift academic campus events supervisor and will provide oversight to the first shift staff, event set ups and laundry services.
Laura Minoglio has been promoted to second shift Campus Event supervisor and will provide oversight to the second shift staff and event set ups.

Middle States visit

Messiah University will host the Middle States’ Evaluation Team on Sunday, March 12 through Wednesday, March 15. The purpose of the visit is for the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) team members to meet with faculty, students, staff, administrators, trustees, and other members of the institutional community to confirm and clarify the information provided in the self-study report.

We are holding an open session to enable all members of the Messiah community to speak with the Evaluation Team regarding the Middle States standards and institutional priorities details in the self-study report. This open session will be on Tuesday, March 14 at 9:30 a.m. in the PAWC 310. All members of the University community are invited.

In addition to the above session, the Evaluation Team will present a summary of their visit to the campus community on Wednesday, March 15 at 10 a.m. All members of the campus community are invited to attend their presentation at 10 a.m. in Hostetter Chapel.
