Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

AROUND CAMPUS

New graduate assistants at Messiah

The Graduate Program in Higher Education Leadership is pleased to welcome 15 new graduate assistants (GAs) for the 2025-2026 academic year on the Messiah University campus. Graduate assistantships offer our graduate students in the M.A in Higher Education Leadership or the M.A. in Intercollegiate Athletic Leadership the opportunity to apply educational theories gained through classroom instruction and put them into professional practice through supervised, real-world experience. The GA program aims to provide an innovative and cost-efficient way to advance departmental and university-wide goals and objectives.

Please join us and our collaborating departments in welcoming the following to the Messiah University community: Laura Almeida, GA for graduate programs; Allie Book, GA for assessment of student learning; Jess Carroll, GA for the Agapé Center for Local and Global Engagement (service trips); Dan Erikson GA for Alumni and Parent Engagement; Sam Erikson, GA for Academic Accessibility; Daane Harvey GA for men’s basketball; Cherish Hawkins, GA for Residence Life; Kaylin Heller, GA for Student Engagement; James Helman, GA for Athletic Communication; Gigie Gilles Jackson, GA for Student Success and Retention; Liz Meyer, GA for the Agapé Center for Local and Global Engagement (off-campus programs); Amelia Montgomery, GA for Residence Life; Liv Monturo, GA for commuter student services and FYE; Mason Scott, GA for intramural sports and open gym; and Emma Swartz, GA for women’s volleyball.

Instructional designer shift

We are pleased to share an update regarding the organizational structure for our instructional designers. Effective Aug. 1, Rocky Allinger and Cindi Kerns will transition from Information Technology Services (ITS) to the Office of Faculty Development. This shift recognizes the valuable educational role fulfilled by our instructional designers, including technical and pedagogical support for our teaching faculty. Aligning instructional design in the Office of Faculty Development builds on the strong collaboration between these areas and offers more integrated and holistic support for teaching excellence at Messiah University. While the instructional designers’ primary reporting line will shift to the Office of Faculty Development, they will continue to work closely with colleagues in ITS. Please continue to reach out to techsupport@messiah.edu for assistance from our instructional designers. We are grateful to Rocky and Cindi for their ongoing support of our Christ-centered educational mission, and we are excited by the opportunities this new structure affords for advancing teaching excellence at Messiah University.
