Effective May 31, David Vader will be stepping down as director of the Collaboratory for strategic partnerships and applied research. He will always remain a co-founder of this distinctive organization within the College that has grown under his leadership of 20 years to be a flagship model in Christian higher education of transforming lives and increasing hope through multidisciplinary academic partnerships with the poor and marginalized throughout the world. The work of the Collaboratory will continue, probably without missing a beat, because of the strong shared leadership foundation David has modeled with his staff and students. David’s current plans are to continue as professor of engineering in his department. The campus community will miss David’s entrepreneurial leadership and is immensely grateful for his sacrificial service for many years.

Open enrollment for preschool 2016-2017

The Early Learning Center is pleased to announce our open enrollment for 2016-2017. We have full-day and half-day programs available to the Messiah College community and the community at large. We continually strive to use developmentally appropriate goals for young children as well as children’s interests as a framework for planning the educational program and assessing children’s progress in all aspects of the social-emotional, cognitive, spiritual and physical foundations necessary for later school success.

The Early Learning Center utilizes the Project Approach as a key component of its curriculum. This inquiry-based approach allows children and teachers to engage in in-depth investigations of a topic or idea worth studying, resulting in the strengthening of academic skills and intellectual dispositions in an authentic manner. Children are viewed as capable, competent, curious and creative members of the classroom community. Interested parties please call the administrative assistant at 717-796-5043 or email earlylearningcenter@messiah.edu for further questions or to schedule a tour of the center. You can also visit messiah.edu/elc and complete an online enrollment form.
