He has recently published his findings as a book entitled, “Christian-Owned Companies” (9 to 5 Media, 2019), which tells the story of each company and how it operates as a ministry. Advisors needed! 2020 domestic service trip

The Agapé Center for Service and Learning is currently seeking advisors for J-term and spring break domestic service trips. Hiring summer student employees

If your department plans to hire student employees for the summer of 2020, please read the summer hiring information found here prior to proceeding with the summer hiring process or making employment offers. The Summer Student Employment Job Fair will be held on Thursday, Feb. 20. Departments hiring summer student workers are required to attend the job fair unless all summer workers are already actively working for the department or are being rehired from the prior summer. Welcome to Enrollment Management

We have exciting news to share! Bethany Parliament-Chevalier has been hired as the new director of enrollment management operations. Bethany is a Messiah alumna with a master’s degree in history and education from Columbia University who began her career as an enrollment recruitment coordinator for Messiah’s Philadelphia Campus. In 2014, as an associate director of admissions at Dickinson, she was a Slate implementation co-captain specializing in external-facing data collection forms, event forms and deliver, although she cross-trained in other areas. Most recently, she served there as the senior data analyst/associate director in the Office of Institutional Effectiveness. Bethany’s first day was Jan. 2. Please join us in welcoming her to the team!

Free personal training

Did you (or should you) make a New Year’s Resolution to start exercising regularly? If so, our Applied Health Science Senior Seminar class is offering free personal fitness consulting during the spring semester. Any Messiah employee wanting to get started on a regular program of cardiovascular exercise is eligible. The program will begin the first week of February. Participants must be available for a short weekly meeting with their assigned student, and must be willing to engage in at least four 20-30 minute cardiovascular workouts during the week. These workouts will be individually designed for you, based on your interests, goals, and current fitness level, and can be completed whenever and wherever you choose. This is a fantastic opportunity to begin your journey toward an improved sense of well-being. Here’s what one employee had to say following his experience this fall: “I lost 16 pounds and moved from a fair to an excellent fitness rating during the semester. Delay/closure information and text alerts

If it becomes necessary to delay or cancel classes due to weather on the Grantham campus and at the Winding Hill facility, only those students and employees who have signed up for text alerts will receive a text notice regarding such a delay or closure. A delay or closure notification will also be placed on the home page of the College’s website, as well as being available by calling the emergency information line at 717-691-6084; a recording will provide you with a date and time of the most recent message. Morning announcement are made no later than 6:30 a.m. If in doubt, please check the website or call the information line if you are not signed up for text alerts. This information is NOT provided to the local media. Employees involved in snow removal, facilities, campus events, and dining should follow the instructions given by their respective supervisory staff during a delay or closure.

Student Employee of the Year Award

In an effort to acknowledge the invaluable contributions of our student employees, the Student Employment Office is pleased to announce Messiah’s first annual Student Employee of the Year Award. If you have an outstanding student working in your department, this is your chance to express your appreciation. Any undergraduate who has been employed a minimum of three months full-time or six months part-time between June 1, 2019 – May 31, 2020 (students who started no later than the beginning of fall semester) may be nominated for the Student Employee of the Year (SEOTY) Award. The following prizes will be given in a Student Employee of the Year Celebration ceremony which will take place on Wednesday, April 15, 2020 during our Student Employee Appreciation Week event.

• In addition, the person selected as the Messiah College Student Employee of the Year will be automatically nominated for additional awards at the state, regional and national levels.

The contributions made by all student employees are important; however, this award seeks to acknowledge the student whose performance is exceptional in one or more areas including, but not limited to, leadership, problem solving, customer service, teamwork, or going above and beyond to greatly exceed expectations for the position. Nominees will be judged by committee review in the following areas: communication, digital technology, problem solving, professionalism/work ethic, intercultural fluency, career management, leadership, and teamwork.
