NEWS

Residence Life is pleased to welcome Trevor Magness and Curtis Kurtz to the RD team (filling the vacancies of Becky Woodruff and Ambria Eberhard-Brown). Trevor, the new Mountain View and Special Interest House Interim RD, will continue to serve 10 hours a week in the SILP office as part of his RD role (where he served formerly as graduate assistant). Curtis, the new Sollenberger and Mellinger Interim RD (and Messiah alum and former RA), joins us with RD experience from Shippensburg University. If you would like to personally welcome them or have residence hall related matters or concerns, you can contact Curtis at ckurtz@messiah.edu and Trevor at tm1370@messiah.edu. We are delighted to have both of them on board!

Dr. Kim Fenstermacher, assistant dean of nursing, was appointed to the Board of Directors of the new UPMC Memorial Hospital in York. She will serve on the Patient Safety Committee and will chair the Quality Council.

Matthew Doll art exhibition “Night, Desert, Garden”

Please join us for the opening of Matthew Doll’s exhibition “Night, Desert, Garden” on Friday, Feb. 7 in The Galleries at Messiah College. There will be an Artist’s Talk and reception on Feb. 7 at 4:15 p.m. in the High Foundation Recital Hall, High Center. The exhibition will be located in the Aughinbaugh Art Gallery and The Galleries at Messiah from Feb. 7-March 13. Matthew Doll is a painter and graphic designer, and the program director of the Gordon IN Orvieto semester program, where his Disegno/Drawing course serves as the cornerstone of the curriculum. Messiah College art and design students participate in the Orvieto program each semester.

Passport services

Representatives from the Cumberland County Court House will be on campus at the Eisenhower Commons between 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 25 to process passport applications.

Applicants need to bring the following documents:

  • Original birth certificate, PLUS A PHOTOCOPY OF THE BIRTH CERTIFICATE
  • Driver’s license PLUS A PHOTOCOPY OF THE DRIVER’S LICENSE.
  • Copy both front and back of the driver’s license on the same side of the page
  • Non-PA residents also need to bring their Messiah ID along with a photocopy of their ID
  • Completed application
  • Fees ($110 check or money order written to the U.S. Department of State and $35 cash or check written to the Prothonotary’s Office)
  • Photo services will be available. Cost is $10 in cash or check written to Messiah College.

Spring semester event bookmarks now available

The Career and Professional Development Center is once again offering our event bookmarks free of charge to any interested faculty and staff. These bookmarks list all of our upcoming programs and have been very popular with students and educators alike. Stop by our office to pick up some today! Student employment reminders

Do you have an outstanding student working in your department? Nominate them for the Student Employee of the Year Award! The winning student will have bragging rights as Messiah’s first ever Student Employee of the Year, will be awarded $150, and will be nominated for additional awards at the state, regional, and national levels. Two honorable mention prizes of $50 each will also be awarded. In addition, all nominees will be recognized in April during National Student Employee Appreciation Week. Please assist us in recognizing the outstanding work of student employees by submitting a nomination. Nominations are due by Feb.10. The Summer Student Employment Job Fair will be held on Thursday, Feb. 20. Saturday Science Programs at the Oakes Museum of Natural History

Registration is now open for Saturday Science Programs at the Oakes Museum of Natural History at Messiah College. Curators Club (grades 3-5) and CC2 (grades 6-8) are science enrichment programs on a variety of topics in a fun learning environment. Winter/spring topics include bears, forensics, raptors and more! Announcing the new Summer Vocal Academy of Messiah College! Dr. Damian Savarino, Dr. Joy Meade and Professor Tara Savarino will be running a new summer camp at Messiah this year. Free cat to a loving home. I’m currently looking for a loving home for my Dad’s cat Bella. She has been with us since she was a kitten (8 years). Bella is a very friendly cat who loves to cuddle.
