Dwayne Safer, associate professor of finance, recently taught a month-long series of workshops to the Girls Who Invest (GWI) program on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania. GWI is a non-profit organization dedicated to increasing the number of women in portfolio management and leadership in the asset management industry. Each summer, GWI’s summer college program consists of four weeks of training where the scholars learn core finance and investment topics followed by a seven-week internship at leading global investment management firms. The 2023 cohort, consisting of rising junior undergraduates, included 215 students from 80 universities representing 75 different majors.

Parkinson’s wellness recovery class
The Falcon Fitness Center is excited to launch its first PREP class as part of the preventative and rehabilitative exercise program in partnership with our Master of Occupational Therapy program this fall!
Our first of many classes will be PWR! Moves, a class designed specifically for those diagnosed with Parkinson’s. The class will be designed and supervised by Krystal Robinson-Bert with graduate students working under her guidance to provide highly supervised training and education.
This class is open to the community as well as Messiah employees and their spouses.

SFS and the Falcon Exchange join Enrollment Management
We are excited to announce that, effective July 1, SFS and Falcon Exchange will join the Division of Enrollment Management! While JR Harris will report directly to John Chopka, all other duties and reporting lines will remain in place at this time. We look forward to exploring how this reorganization provides opportunity to optimize synergies as we continue to serve our students and their families. Summer activities – School of Graduate and Professional Studies
As we are now several weeks into the summer semester, we wanted to take a moment to highlight some of what’s happening on campus with the School of Graduate and Professional Studies (SGPS)! In addition to the hard work happening online, we are excited to welcome several of our students to campus this summer.
June highlights
• Graduate music welcomes nearly 50 online students to campus for intensives between the weeks of June 19 and June 30
• Occupational Therapy welcomed a new incoming cohort for orientation on June 16 with classes beginning June 19
July highlights
• Graduate music will welcome approximately 60 online students to campus for intensives during the weeks of July 10 and July 17
• Graduate counseling, education, higher education, music and nursing will welcome nearly 150 online students to campus for intensives during the week of July 24
August highlights
• Athletic Training will begin their second cohort of students for the Master of Science in Athletic Training
• Physical Therapy will welcome a new incoming cohort of 36 students for orientation on Aug. 17 with classes beginning Aug. 21
• Master of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics will welcome its first cohort for this new degree!
• Higher Education will welcome 19 graduate assistants to campus serving in various positions beginning in August.
