Messiah University retirement plan notification

Dear Participant:

*Important information about your retirement plan is now available. Please review this information.*

Messiah University is providing the below documents, as required by law, to all participants and employees with balances in our Messiah University Defined Contribution Retirement Plan. The items include:

–Plan Amendment – for current employees only. As communicated on August 22, 2022, Messiah phased out the Enhanced Tuition Reduction Benefit. This amendment serves to finalize that process, effective July 1.
Please note: This change does not impact our regular Tuition Reduction benefits.

–Modifications to Plan Fees – plan fees have been reduced/restructured since the most-recently distributed Annual Fee Disclosure in Fall 2023. The new fees go into effect on July 1.

Additionally, consistent with the SECURE Act 2.0 regulations, Messiah has modified the mandatory cash-out limit for former employees to now require accounts with less than a $7,000 balance to rollover or take a distribution of funds from their account. The previous balance was $5,000. Former employees with more than a $7,000 balance remaining in TIAA and/or more than a $7,000 balance remaining in The Standard are NOT impacted by this change and no action is required. Current employees are NOT impacted by this change and no action is required.

These documents are available by accessing the “Human Resources Benefits Documentation” card on FalconLink. These documents are not required to be available on the website for more than one year or, if later, after it is superseded by a newer version.

Employees may opt out of future electronic copies and may request a paper copy by contacting Don Lerew, Assistant Director of Human Resources, at dlerew@messiah.edu.

Tech Support – Did you know?

  • Microsoft 365 is available for you to install on your computer if you are still running Office 2016. To install it, Open Software Center from your Desktop or Start Menu, Find Microsoft 365 64-bit, Click Install (plan on 10-15 minutes for this process). After installation is complete, navigate to Software Center again. Click Office 365 Taskbar & Start Menu Fix (this will remove those 2016 icons). Sign back into your account.
    • Computer equipment with a Messiah barcode should not be moved/removed from the original location without approval from Tech Support. The equipment is tracked and updated in an inventory system. It is important Tech Support knows the location of all computer equipment and peripherals.
    • Tech Support purchases extended warranties for our Lenovo computers. This is to extend their life and usability for as long as possible as we often repurpose these computers throughout campus after they may have been used by individual employees. If there are any issues with the computer assigned to you, it is important to report it immediately so we can have it repaired without incurring a cost.
    • Any questions? – Email techsupport@messiah.edu, which will generate a support ticket. The ticket will be assigned to an available technician. This ensures your issue receives attention, even if someone is out of the office.
