ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
Dr. Emily Bingham promotion
I am very pleased to announce the promotion of Emily Bingham to dean of Campus Ministries and director of Christian spiritual formation, effective July 1.
Emily has faithfully served Messiah University through her leadership of Campus Ministries, helping students grow in their faith through worship, discipleship, pastoral care and spiritual formation opportunities. In her new role, she will continue to oversee Campus Ministries while providing leadership for Christian spiritual formation initiatives across the Division of Student Success and Engagement.
As dean of Campus Ministries and director of Christian Spiritual Formation, Emily will help advance the university’s commitment to nurturing students’ holistic development by collaborating with campus partners to strengthen faith integration, support student spiritual growth, cultivate relationships with local churches and ministry organizations, and guide strategic efforts related to Christian spiritual formation.
Emily has demonstrated exceptional leadership, pastoral wisdom and commitment to the spiritual growth of our students. This new role reflects both her gifts and Messiah University’s desire to strengthen Christian spiritual formation as a central part of the student experience.
Please join me in congratulating Emily on this well-deserved promotion.
Doug Wood, vice provost for Student Success and Engagement dean of students
Welcome new admissions counselors!
I’m pleased to share Ty Cowan and Sarah (Johns) Myers will be joining the undergraduate admissions team as admissions counselors this summer!
Ty is a May 2026 graduate of Messiah, with a degree in accounting. While at Messiah, he served as president of Black Student Union as well as student body president for the 2025-2026 school year. Ty also continues to serve as the youth leader at his church in Harrisburg. He shares, “I desire to represent Messiah University in a way that is welcoming, informative and reflective of its mission to develop students for lives of service, leadership and faith.” Ty will be serving first year students in Western PA, Montgomery County, New England and parts of the West Coast.
Sarah graduated from Messiah in December of 2025 with a degree in human development and family science, as well as minors in children and youth services and chemistry. As a student, she served as an ambassador leader within the admissions office and worked as a coach with Soccer Shots and as a program coordinator at Nemacolin Resort. She shares, “Whether providing tours, assisting with events or helping students navigate next steps, I value creating an environment where individuals feel genuinely supported and encouraged.” Sarah is getting married in early July after she starts, so we are planning to onboard her with her new last name, Myers! She will be working with first year students from Northeastern PA and Eastern/Western Maryland.
Ty started on Wednesday, June 17 and was joined by Sarah on Monday, June 22. Ty will be in PAWC 208-J and Sarah will be in PAWC 208-I. If you see them (back) on campus, please offer a warm welcome to these alum!

BID FAREWELL
Farewell to Matt Logan
The creative team in the Office of Marketing and Communications would like to bid farewell to Senior Graphic Designer Matt Logan. During his seven years as a part of the creative team, Matt has done beautiful work for campus clients and for the university as a whole—through his design for The Bridge magazine, graduate programs, the University “See Anew” brand refresh, Messiah Christmas and other special projects campus wide.
Matt will be taking a position at his church where he’ll continue to use his significant gifts. Thankfully, Messiah will continue to benefit from his talents as a coach with the track and field team. Matt’s last day with the university is today, Thursday, June 25. Please join us in thanking him for his contributions and in praying for him and his family as he moves forward into what the Lord has planned for this next phase of his career.

OUTSIDE ORGANIZATIONS
The Comfort Project Foundation recently launched by Messiah graduate
Grief touches all of us at some point in our lives, and during those difficult seasons, support and prayer can make a meaningful difference.
Amber Miller-Garlinger, a 2022 Messiah University graduate, recently launched The Comfort Project Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing spiritual and practical support to individuals navigating grief, including those mourning the loss of a beloved pet. The foundation was started in memory of Amber’s grandfather, Steve Mayo, who passed last July and dedicated his life to helping and praying for others.
The foundation creates and sends free, individualized comfort kits to those who have recently experienced a loss. In addition, a dedicated prayer team is available to provide encouragement and prayer support during challenging times.
If you or someone you know could benefit from these resources, please consider visiting The Comfort Project Foundation’s website and social media platforms to learn more.
