New lodging page for Messiah guests

Conference and Event Services is pleased to announce a new, easy-to-use lodging page for guests of Messiah University. The previous lodging page listed local hotels, but required guests to call the hotel directly to book. Our new partnership with Campus Travel Management Inc. allows guests to book online with the hotel of their choice. Rates are listed, including any Messiah discount, after dates are selected for the stay. If you have guests coming to campus for meetings or events, please encourage them to use this new system.

The new lodging page is available at https://campustravel.com/university/messiah-university/
As a reminder, the Climenhaga Homestead Guest House continues to serve the Engle Center’s counseling team this fall. If you are using institutional funds to book lodging, you should NOT use the link above. Messiah has lower negotiated rates for internal use only. If you need to contact our preferred hotels for discounted rates, please contact Jonathan Bert in the Office of Conference and Event Services.

Students in those courses are expected to save thousands of dollars in textbook costs due to the availability of these textbooks in these expanded library resources. Use and student survey data will be used for future subscription decisions. The library wishes to thank faculty in these programs as well as the Office of Finance and Planning, and the Office of Development for their assistance in applying for and using these funds to reduce student textbook costs.

Emergency housing options for students

The Housing Department is looking to proactively accumulate a list of local Messiah community members who would be open to housing students in the midst of an emergency. If an evacuation pushed students to leave campus, it would be helpful to know if any local persons would be willing to host a student for a short period of time. Please email housing@messiah.edu with your name, contact information, and address if you are interested in being added to this list. Thank you in advance!

Calling all collectors!

Would you be willing to bring a few examples and talk about your collection with elementary school age campers at the Oakes Museum for ten minutes sometime during the week of July 19-23? Please contact Kirsten Reinford, special programs manager, at kreinford@messiah.edu if you have a collection you could share. Thank you!

Breakroom changes

With the disruption created by COVID, some changes that were implemented as part of prioritization were conflated with changes that needed to be made due to COVID. One such change is the stocking of breakrooms. As announced in 2019, the University ended it’s leasing of breakroom coffee machines and will no longer be stocking breakrooms. Likewise, department budgets are not to be allocated to stocking breakrooms. The University will continue to provide breakroom spaces and refrigerators (where feasible), but we are each responsible for our own refreshments.
