Erin Boyd-Soisson, professor of human development and family science, and Raeann Hamon, distinguished professor of family science and gerontology, made two presentations at the Family Science Association’s Teaching Family Science Conference in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Their poster was entitled “Integrating Short Yet Meaningful Activities into the Family Science Classroom” and their paper (with Lauren Garcia, HDFS ’25, Hamon’s 2023 Smith Scholar Intern) was entitled “Elders Share Their Life Lessons: Advancing Experiential Learning via an Elder Mentor Program.”

Highmark website member portal

Please be reminded that we are currently in an extended plan year regarding healthcare benefits, which will continue through October 31. Your medical plan benefits, including deductibles, will not reset until November 1.

However, it has been brought to our attention that the Highmark website is not reflecting this continuation of benefits and shows that deductible balances have returned to $0, effective July 1.

We have been assured that this is NOT an accurate reflection of how your claims are being processed. Highmark must manually adjust their system to accommodate this arrangement, which is not reflected currently when you login to your member portal. They are working on updating the website.
