Congratulations to Denise Albert, College Press and Postal Services bulk mailroom lead technician, who successfully achieved her USPS Mailpiece Design Professional certification. Denise is now certified to review designed publications intended for mailing and render judgments in regards to USPS standards. The course Denise completed included topics such as postal addressing standards, classes of mail and processing categories, barcode formats, reply mail and designing for automation.

MESSIAH 411

“In Matter and in Mode” faculty exhibition, artists’ talk and reception

This exhibition features selected work by full and part-time members of the Messiah College Art and Design faculty. The exhibition encompasses a variety of approaches to the concepts, materials and methods of art-making, design and exhibition curation. It provides a setting for dialogue between students and their mentors, and an opportunity for the greater community to engage with the creative endeavor of this talented faculty. Exhibition runs Sept. 13-Oct. 9.

Join us for the artists’ talk and reception on Friday, Oct. 4 at 4: 15 p.m. in the Aughinbaugh Art Gallery in the Climenhaga Building. Gallery hours are Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

Trivia Night

Put your knowledge to the test Friday, Oct. 4 at Trivia Night starting at 7 p.m. at Murray Library! We’ll have four rounds of trivia to test your knowledge in a variety of categories like music, sports, film, literature, history and many other random topics. We’ll keep the good times rolling with snacks. Gather a group of friends to form a team or join up with friendly folks when you arrive. Teams can include up to six players. Awesome prizes await the top three teams!

Fall 2019 Shred Day

On Tuesday, Oct. 22, Shredding Solutions will provide a truck on campus for confidential document shredding. The truck will be located at the top of the access road between Frey Hall and the library (located where the access road and the brick walkway meet) and will be available from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

Please use this opportunity to purge your office/work areas of documentation that contains confidential information that has met its retention requirements and is no longer needed.

What can be shredded? All forms of documentation containing confidential information can be included in this campus shred day. Secured data and all sizes, color and texture of paper will be accepted. The shredding truck can shred/destroy staples and paperclips, but ALL BINDER CLIPS MUST BE REMOVED and documents in binders will not be accepted. (You will have the opportunity to observe your documents throughout the shredding process if you wish.) Personal documents in small/reasonable amounts (a paper box full or less) are also welcome to be brought in for shredding.

Shredding instructions

Normal shredding needs: Please bring all the paper for shredding directly to the truck beginning at 11 a.m. It is the goal to complete all shredding needs in the designated two (2) hours scheduled; plan to bring paper between 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. (please note, the shredding truck will be leaving promptly at 1 p.m., we suggest arriving no later than 12:45 p.m.).

Special shredding needs: If your department has specific needs, special arrangements can be made by calling Allen Snook, IT security analyst, at ext. 6790. All shredding arrangements must be made before the close of business Thursday, Oct. 17. For special requests or other questions, please contact Allen Snook, at ext. 6790.

BJ’s Wholesale Club – $25 for 12 months for new Inner Circle membership; $40 for 13 months for renewed Inner Circle membership. To begin a new or renew an existing membership, come to our on-campus event in the ECC outside of the Falcon from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 16. Cash or check only, please. Sam’s Club – $45 for 12 months for Club membership; $100 for 12 months for Plus membership To begin a new or renew an existing membership, come to our on-campus event in the ECC outside of the Falcon from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 28 or Tuesday Oct. 29. Bring your Messiah College ID and pay with cash or check. New memberships will receive a $10 Sam’s Club gift card and renewed memberships will receive a gift bag full of free Sam’s Club merchandise. New and renewed memberships receive a free rotisserie chicken and other discounts on in-club items. This offer is not available in stores.

Costco Wholesale – $60 for 12 months for a Gold Star membership; $120 for 12 months for an Executive membership. To begin a new or renewed membership, come to our on-campus event in the ECC outside of the Falcon from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 21. Messiah preferred rental vehicle supplier – Enterprise Rent-A-Car

Enterprise Rent-A-Car is Messiah’s preferred rental vehicle supplier. Enterprise offers competitive rates regionally and nationally, and will drop off and pick up vehicles on campus. A mid-size/intermediate car accommodates most travelers’ needs and costs just $35.50 per day. A 12 or 15-passenger van costs $97 per day. All required insurance is included in these rates. Click here for additional details.

  • If available, College-owned pool vehicles must be used for College travel. Review section 6.3 of the Messiah College Expenditure Policy for details and exceptions.
  • Employees/Students must be College-approved drivers prior to renting a vehicle. Details here.

Emerald Club

Joining the Emerald Club is not required but can simplify your rental experience.

  • You will not have to be present to sign for the vehicle when it is dropped off. Enterprise can leave the vehicle in the visitor lot. Keys can be picked up at the Dispatch window at your convenience.
  • Enterprise will email rental receipts to you, streamlining purchasing card allocations.

Picking up Enterprise vehicles on campus

Enterprise will drop off vehicles in the visitor parking lot, VV on the attached map.

  • If you are an Emerald Club member and made arrangements for the car to be dropped off on campus, keys can be picked up from Dispatch. You will be required to present ID and sign a log sheet verifying that you picked up the keys.
  • If you are not an Emerald Club member, be sure you understand the pick-up/return arrangements – you must be present to sign for the vehicle.

Returning Enterprise vehicles on campus (Emerald Club and non-Emerald Club members)

  • Park the vehicle in the visitor parking lot, VV on the attached map and lock the doors.
  • Immediately take the keys to the dispatch window and identify that you are returning an Enterprise rental vehicle. You will be required to present ID and sign a log sheet verifying that you returned the keys.
  • Email Rachel.A.Plotycia@ehi.com to confirm that the vehicle has been returned. This is an important step and helps eliminate extra charges.
