Raeann Hamon, distinguished professor of family science and gerontology, virtually co-presented a session entitled “Elevating and Reviving Family and Consumer Sciences Academic Programs to Meet the Needs of Families and the Constraints of Higher Education Institutions” with Dr. Karen Alexander (Texas Tech U) and Dr. Jacqueline Holland (Morgan State U) at the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences Conference. Raeann was able to highlight our FCS program at Messiah and ways in which we are helping to enliven and sustain the discipline.

Erin Boyd-Soisson, professor of human development and family science, and Raeann Hamon, distinguished professor of family science and gerontology, made two presentations at the Family Science Association’s Teaching Family Science Conference in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Their poster was entitled “Integrating Short Yet Meaningful Activities into the Family Science Classroom” and their paper (with Lauren Garcia, HDFS ’25, Hamon’s 2023 Smith Scholar Intern) was entitled “Elders Share Their Life Lessons: Advancing Experiential Learning via an Elder Mentor Program.”
